Details of BIS COMPLIANCE FOR ELECTRONIC & IT PRODUCT-SERVICE

The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) grants BIS Registration licenses for goods that meet the applicable Indian Standards. The Bureau of Indian Standards Act of 2016 created the National Standards Body of India (BIS), which is housed inside the Government of India's Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution. Standards development, product certification, testing, training, hallmarking, laboratory services, and calibration plans are among the tasks that BIS performs.
A product's quality, safety, and dependability are indicated by the third-party assurance provided by BIS registration. Manufacturers whose goods are covered by BIS's mandatory and optional certification programs are granted licenses. The products may then be marked with the relevant standard mark by the manufacturer. While it is not required to obtain a BIS license, the Indian government has called for specific goods to safeguard the welfare of people, animals, and plants, as well as the environment, public health, and national security. Additionally, it seeks to stop unfair trading practices,

"Aligned with BIS standards, a mark of trust;

Craft with precision, making products robust;

Expand your market with certification secured;

Master compliance, in India you'll be assured;

And growth and success will be your brand's future, assured.

Compulsory Registration Scheme (CRS)
The Compulsory Registration Scheme (CRS) was implemented in 2012 by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) and the Department of Electronics and Information Technology to safeguard Indian customers against inferior and counterfeit goods. Before being released onto the market, electronics and IT devices must first get a BIS license under this procedure.

Compulsory registration orders were also issued by the Ministry, which state that no person or organization may produce, store for sale, sell, import, or distribute goods that do not meet the Indian standards specified in the order and do not bear the Standard Mark with a unique registration number.

FAQ of BIS COMPLIANCE FOR ELECTRONIC & IT PRODUCT

BIS (Bureau of Indian Standards) registration is a certification process for electronic and IT products sold in India. It ensures that products meet the required quality, safety, and performance standards as per Indian regulations. The BIS certification indicates that the product complies with the necessary specifications and is safe for consumer use.

BIS Registration is crucial because it ensures that the product complies with Indian quality and safety standards. It helps protect consumers from faulty or substandard products, promotes safety, and fosters trust in the product's performance and durability. It is also a legal requirement for certain products sold in India.

Electronic and IT products such as laptops, desktops, mobile phones, power adapters, chargers, and other electrical appliances typically require BIS Registration. The specific list of products can be obtained from the BIS website or relevant authorities based on the product category.

Selling electronic and IT products without BIS Registration in India can lead to legal consequences, including fines, product recalls, or even a ban on sales. Non-compliance may also damage a brand’s reputation and customer trust.
